...I can't believe we were so young
and goofy-looking
(except for me, that is).

(photo above)...John Dean (L) , unknown (Center), & Dave Shoop (R)
at "Eagle Beach" in early 1969.

(photo above) Dave Shoop (L) & John Dean (R). "Refreshments" after a flight!
Photo taken early 1969.

The above photo was furnished by George Kerr...his well-used Dragon patch from 1971. Notice that the design of these patches changed somewhat. The original patch (shown on the homepage) is not nearly as unique as this later variety.

The above photo was furnished by George Kerr. What a mess!

Above photo of Dave Fuller taken 9/69. OK, so I'll take my goofy photos off of here if you gents start to supply more photos! Anyway, a good shot of me in my Nomex flight suit, shoulder holster for my .38 Spl. revolver (with an emergency flair gun wraped around the harness), and a 2.75" rocket that says:"To Chuck, Love Mom & Dad".

TOP PHOTO ABOVE: Taken 4 Feb. 70 at Camp Eagle by Gene Gawthrop...Gene (L), and Rich Hanson (R), after receiving the DFC "for something silly".
SECOND PHOTO ABOVE: Taken by Gene Gawthrop appx. 2/70 of the Camp Eagle Hot Refueling Pad.

TOP PHOTO ABOVE: Taken appx. 2/70 by Gene Gawthrop...one of our Snakes over Camp Eagle.
SECOND PHOTO ABOVE: Taken appx. 2/70 by Gene Gawthrop of Camp Eagle. Gene says that our pad is in the center and the Toro's "Bull Pen" is on the left...with xray vision like that, it's no wonder that Gene got the DFC!

Top two photos of Acft. #15838 flown by CW2 Tom Damm (see "In Memory" page). This Snake encountered an engine failure near "The Rockpile" during an early morning mission in late Feb. or early Mar. 1970. Evidently, the folks at the FSB weren't too happy to have such a stationery target visit them. Tom and his co-pilot suffered a little back problems because of this...but hey...they walked away from this crash! As a note, this bird had twin miniguns mounted in the turret (what a screamer!).
